Green Velvet Sofa and a Pair of Beaded Yoruba Chairs

In my vow to post more here on the blog in 2024 I give you this dramatic vignette put together this morning!  I love this time of year right before the Tucson Gem and Mineral show when our African dealers come through town en route to setting up at the African Village tents down there in February.
Having a sneak peek of the wonderful finds that our West African dealers bring in is a great perk of working with the same great people for years and years.
We had to snag this pair of all-over beaded Yoruba chairs from Nigeria yesterday.
It has been years since we had some of these works of art you can sit on!  This curved club chair shape makes these tribal pieces a bit more versatile - they could easily go in a more modern space than our usual eclectic maximalist looks we lean into.
Our favorite Rowe Furniture green velvet sofa is a perfect, lush companion to the graphic black and white chairs.  I love how this jewel toned velvet works with any combination of pillows we put on it - warm Turkish kilim, Uzbek ikat, a golden Indian wool throw - yes please!
This dramatic bronze Vishnu bust is a stunner too - I moved him around a bit in this vignette - but had to include him here as the colors are so good.  These are all hand carved and cast in Java, Indonesia.
Here is a little bronze Ganesha with a bunch of our cowrie shell covered Lombok basket boxes too - love the details.  The boxes are actually online on the website too!
As a matched pair, these Yoruba chairs are doubly amazing - you have to really see and feel them in person though to appreciate the millions of tiny seed beads painstakingly used on these beauties!
Come see before they are gone!
